Sources: Indiana Pacers and Los Angeles Lakers swap second round picks and cash considerations

The Pacers have made two draft pick trades in two days

The Indiana Pacers and Los Angeles Lakers are in agreement on a trade that would swap second-round 2023 draft picks and send cash considerations to the Pacers, AllPacers has learned from multiple NBA sources.

The 40th overall pick will go from Indiana to Los Angeles while the Lakers will send the 47th overall selection and cash considerations to the Pacers. Indiana acquired pick 40 yesterday in a deal with the Denver Nuggets.

One league source told AllPacers that the Lakers are sending the Pacers roughly $4.35 million in cash considerations in this trade. Los Angeles sent cash to the Orlando Magic in a trade earlier this season, and teams can only trade away $6.36 million over the course of the 2022-23 league year.

The Pacers have received about $5.7 million in cash this season and can get about $650,000 more before July 1.

Indiana has now moved back from 32 to 40 and then from 40 to 47, receiving first-round pick equity and cash in the deals that allowed them to do so. The team lacks roster spots this summer as they only have three outgoing free agents who had standard roster spots, so moving back in the draft to an area where they could pick a player that may sign a two-way contract instead of a standard NBA deal makes sense. The Pacers are juggling many assets and a roster crunch leading up to the draft.

The NBA Draft is later tonight. As it stands, the Pacers have picks seven, 26, 47, and 55.
