Spurs Testing Young Squad with 'Tough' Schedule Ahead

The San Antonio Spurs have the 13th-toughest remaining schedule in the league.

The final stretch of the season won't be "easy" for the San Antonio Spurs ... at least according to the NBA's calculations.

With six weeks left of the regular season, the Spurs have the 13th-toughest remaining schedule in the league. In the Western Conference, San Antonio has the fifth-toughest schedule left, measured by cumulative opponent winning percentage, back-to-backs, rest-advantage and home/road games.

This season, San Antonio is one of the bottom four teams in the NBA and limped into the All-Star Break. The are on a 14-game losing streak and have not won a road game since Christmas.

San Antonio touts one of the youngest rosters in the NBA, and following a trade deadline where the team shipped away veterans, its young roster will get a chance to shine. Rather than a battle for postseason play, the Spurs are likely amid the race for undisputed 2023 No. 1 pick Victor Wembanyama.

San Antonio opens its final regular-season stretch on Thursday as massive 14-point underdogs vs. in-state rival Dallas Mavericks. Rookies Jeremy Sochan and Malaki Branham hope to pull off a huge upset over Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving.

Around the NBA, the Philadelphia 76ers will be tested, with the most difficult remaining schedule in the association. Their post-NBA All-Star break schedule is busy and tough: the Sixers have 15 road games, two more than any other team has left to play

The Mavericks have the league’s easiest remaining schedule, with 13 of their 22 remaining games against teams with records currently at or below .500. Dallas looks to capitalize on a post-break schedule that starts with the longest home stand of the Mavs' season. The Mavs play six games over 13 days at home.
