Eight Veteran Guard Options for Phoenix Suns

Bleacher Report's Eric Pincus says the Phoenix Suns should still be in the market for a veteran guard. Here's eight different options he listed.

The Phoenix Suns mostly have their roster set for the upcoming season, but that hasn't stopped the flurry of trade rumors, reports and free-agent requests from the fanbase.

We know the Suns have reached out to the Utah Jazz in interest for Bojan Bogdanovic, which was confirmed by John Gambadoro. That still may be very possible, but from an outside perspective, talks may not have moved much.

Phoenix also is in the market for a post-up power forward, further pushing the narrative that Jae Crowder may be on his way out. The timing is right considering Cameron Johnson's development and potential contract extension (which won't go into effect until next year).

While duties for the starting guard position are well under wraps with Chris Paul and Devin Booker, a presence coming off the bench is still needed. Many believe new addition Damion Lee can fill that role, while others are skeptical on the rest of the backcourt.

Bleacher Report's Eric Pincus recently wrote a piece that attempted to tie landing spots for top NBA free agents, and there's still plenty of talent available for Phoenix to snatch.

Eight Veteran Guard Options for Phoenix Suns

Dennis Schröder- Schroder is a fan favorite for many in the Valley, as he's probably the best option still available on the market.

According to NBA insider Marc Stein the Los Angeles Lakers could reunite with Schröder "depending on how the rest of their roster develops" which is not an ideal scenario for Suns fans.

Eric Bledsoe- Would he even want to be here?

Bledsoe was another target potentially linked to the Lakers thanks to ties with agent Rich Paul, who represents both LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

Yet would he even be valuable at this stage in his career?

"At nearly 33, Bledsoe hasn't looked especially productive his last couple of seasons," said Pincus.

Elfrid Payton- Let's just bring back any guard who played in Phoenix at this point.

Payton, looped with D.J. Augustin, was deemed the top defensive option out of the duo, should the Suns covet that.

"The Phoenix Suns had Payton as the third point behind Chris Paul and Cameron Payne. Unless the franchise believes two-way guard Duane Washington Jr. has that covered, Phoenix could still fit another ball-handler on the roster," said Pincus.

Washington has displayed flashes, but will he get a serious chance on the court?

"Another name to keep an eye on is Kemba Walker, who is expected to be waived by the Detroit Pistons before the start of the season (barring an unexpected trade). Walker, just a year removed from averaging 19.3 points per game for the Boston Celtics, may not get more than a minimum offer should the Pistons set him free.

"Other backcourt options available: Lou Williams, Rajon Rondo and Ryan Arcidiacono."

No matter how you slice it, the Suns indeed still have options out on the market, should they still be searching to bolster their bench.
