Deandre Ayton Agrees to Offer Sheet From Pacers

The Phoenix Suns have two days to match the offer.

According to ESPNs Adrian Wojnarowski, Phoenix Suns restricted free agent center Deandre Ayton has agreed to an offer sheet from the Indiana Pacers.

The Suns will have two days to match what is the largest offer sheet in NBA history.

The Pacers have been favored to land Ayton in the last couple days, although teams such as the San Antonio Spurs also potentially threw their hat in the ring.

Ayton, Phoenix's No. 1 pick just a few years ago, has played a key role in helping the Suns reach the NBA Finals and establish a new franchise record in regular season wins in back to back seasons.

However, the Suns and Ayton weren't able to reach an agreement on a contract extension last season, and Phoenix reportedly shopped Ayton at the trade deadline.

After an ugly Game 7 exit that spurred an argument with coach Monty Williams, many believed the relationship between Ayton and the team had gone too far.

The Suns still hold the right to bring him back, if they choose to do so. Phoenix is very much in the race for Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant, and will now have 48 hours to decide if they want to let Ayton walk for free or if they'll bring him back to the team.

If the Suns match the offer sheet, they can't trade him for six months.
