Steve Kerr Reveals Reason for Controversial Decision in Warriors vs. Timberwolves

The Golden State Warriors fell to the Minnesota Timberwolves

The Golden State Warriors lost again on Sunday night, falling to the Minnesota Timberwolves by a final score of 114-110. Superstar point guard Steph Curry played just 29 minutes and 50 seconds, despite the Warriors winning his minutes by 6 points. This was a very controversial decision by Steve Kerr, who was asked about it after the game.

“We’re trying to keep him around 30 [minutes],” Kerr said of Curry. “We’re trying to get him as much rest as we can. We’ve played him a lot of minutes. We played him 35 two days ago.”

Kerr added, “You can't expect to ride Steph game after game after game... We've put the burden of this franchise on his shoulders for 15 years.”

Curry was asked about this development, and admitted it surprised him a bit. When asked if he’s capable of playing more minutes than he did in this one, Curry said, “The situation will define itself pretty clearly - it is in real time. Every game matters. We’re inching closer to the other end of the standings… Nobody is gonna wave the white flag. If that means playing more minutes, I’ll be ready to do that.”

The Warriors are now just one game above the 11th seed Houston Rockets, and are in serious danger of falling out of the play-in picture entirely. That would be a disastrous outcome to what has already been an incredibly disappointing season.
