Steve Kerr Reacts to Shocking Development of Young Warriors Star

Jonathan Kuminga went from not getting minutes, to becoming crucial.

It wasn't too long ago this season when Jonathan Kuminga was leaking reports to the media about his unhappiness with Steve Kerr and the Warriors. Fast forward a few months later, and he's become one of the most critical members of the team.

It took some time, but Warriors head coach Steve Kerr has finally started entrusting Kuminga with more minutes and the 21-year-old hasn't disappointed. In Kerr's eyes, Jonathan Kuminga has really "figured it out."

"JK has just really figured it out," Kerr said. "The game has slowed down for him and he's understanding now when to attack, how to attack. Thought he made some good passes tonight. He's just so powerful and explosive going to the rim. I think he's just seeing the floor better than ever."

In the last 10 games, Jonathan Kuminga has been averaging 23.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 2.4 assists on 61/48/78 shooting. He's been an absolute force, and Kerr saw firsthand just how much Kuminga has improved in the last month.

"This whole past month, I think he's really broken through," Kerr said. "It's just been amazing to watch. Two and a half years of a lot of work, ups and downs, and he stayed with it the whole time. I'm so impressed with what he's done. He's really becoming a helluva player."

If there's one thing that's become clear, it's that Jonathan Kuminga has become the player that the Warriors needed Andrew Wiggins to become, and they can't let him go.
