Dallas Mavericks Lead By 20 At The Half

The Washington Wizards Find Themselves Down By 20 Against the Dallas Mavericks At Halftime

The score in the district at halftime is Dallas Mavericks 71, Washington Wizards 51

It is one of those nights where it’s not sure if this is a Wizards or Mavericks home game. Capital One Arena isn’t packed at all but for the fans that are here it is obvious the Dallas Mavericks have some fans in the building.

At the half, there’s not much for Wizards fans to cheer about.

The Dallas Mavericks are without Kyrie Irving tonight in the District as he is nursing a left foot injury. Even without Irving, the Mavericks are just too tough offensively for this young Wizards team to handle. The largest Mavericks lead was 25.

Surprisingly, Luka Doncic is not the leading game scorer at the half. The Wizards have had difficulty containing both Doncic (21 points) and Tim Hardaway Jr (22 points) so far in this game.

The Wizards starting five of Kyle Kuzma, Jordan Poole, Daniel Gafford, Tyus Jones, and Deni Avdija have left much to be desired in this first half. Kuzma tried to get things going with two minutes left in the half and is leading Wizards scorers with nine points.

The Wizards are shooting at 39% to the Mavericks 53%.

The Wizards would need to have a complete overhaul on offense and find ways to limit the scoring abilities of the Mavs. The Mavericks just played last night however do not appear to be as lethargic. The Wizards seem to appear that it is difficult to keep up with the fast paced Mavericks and it is showing up on the scoreboard. The team will have to find ways to make plays and try to catch up to a Mavericks team that does not look like they are going to slow down any time soon in this game.
