Darrelle Revis trade talks are expected to 'drag into Wednesday'

The trade market for Tampa Bay Buccaneers cornerback Darrelle Revis appears to be heating up with the official start of free agency, but it doesn't appear that we will see a resolution on Tuesday.

With the Buccaneers reportedly fielding offers from the Cleveland Browns and the Oakland Raiders, talks are "expected to drag into Wednesday," according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

If a deal is delayed until Wednesday, Revis would be due a $1.5 million roster bonus and the Buccaneers would send a third-round pick to the New York Jets rather than a fourth-round pick. If Revis is traded or released before tomorrow, then the Jets get a fourth-rounder.

Both Cleveland and Oakland are intriguing options because of the cap space they have available, but Cleveland has a larger arsenal of picks that it could ship to Tampa Bay in exchange for the Pro Bowl cornerback.

The Browns dipped into their cap space to make two early splashes in the opening minutes of the free agency period on Tuesday afternoon, shoring up their defense by signing corner Donte Whitner and linebacker Karlos Dansby to four-year deals.

Tampa Bay is reportedly seeking a first-rounder for Revis, which the Browns could afford to ship away thanks to the second first-round pick they were able to pick up in a trade that sent Trent Richardson to the Indianapolis Colts.
