Cincinnati Bengals have yet to begin extension talks with wideout A.J. Green

The Cincinnati Bengals will eventually make A.J. Green one of the highest-paid wide receivers in the NFL, but there doesn't appear to be any urgency. According to ProFootballTalk, the Bengals have yet to reach out to Green about a potential extension, but that doesn't necessarily mean they are dragging their feet.
Instead, the team is just waiting until the time is right and they are in no rush, nor should they be.
Cincinnati is expected to pick up the fifth-year team option on Green's deal by the May 3 deadline, which will keep him under contract through the 2015 regular season. That gives the Bengals two years to work out a long-term extension with their star wideout, who certainly deserves a big pay raise. In three years in the NFL, Green has compiled nearly 4,000 yards receiving with 29 touchdowns.

Green could eventually decide to hold out in hopes of getting the long-term deal, but the Bengals have made it clear that the 2011 No. 4 overall pick is a big part of their future plans and he should be comfortable knowing the money will be thrown his way when the time is right.
