NFL executive: Kirk Cousins could be worth third-rounder, at most, in a trade

The Washington Redskins have seemingly been shopping backup quarterback Kirk Cousins for ages. There's reportedly been little interest in the services of the former Michigan State signal-caller, but that hasn't stopped Washington from trying.
A favorite of former head coach Mike Shanahan, Cousins is seemingly the odd man out under new coach Jay Gruden, and ESPN's John Keim believes Washington will attempt to trade the signal-caller in the coming days, even if they don't get back the second-round pick they were seeking.
"I haven’t heard any movement on a Cousins trade, but I would think there will be discussions and they won’t intensify, most likely, until the draft begins. The key in this equation is what Cleveland’s new staff thinks about Brian Hoyer and the quarterbacks in this draft. I talked to one executive who said that although this quarterback class perhaps lacks what the 2012 group had at the top, it is deep enough that a team won’t have to trade for someone -- unless you want an immediate starter. This person’s opinion was that Cousins would be worth, at most, a third-round pick."
A third-round pick isn't bad value for a Washington team with few picks even if Cousins does give them RGIII insurance, and a lower asking price would certainly generate interest among QB-needy teams.
