Former Miami Dolphins' scout claims he was wrongfully terminated, threatening lawsuit

The Miami Dolphins could be facing another public relations nightmare surrounding an off-the-field issue, and much like the Jonathan Martin-Richie Incognito situation, it will not show the higher-ups of the team in a good light.

According to a report from Fox Sports, former team scout Nate Sullivan, who had worked with the organization for 17 years, feels he was wrongfully fired from his position because general manager Dennis Hickey was unhappy about the fact that he worked from home.

FOX Sports 1 has learned that the attorney for Nate Sullivan sent an intent-to-initiate-litigation letter to the Dolphins and league. The document, which was obtained by FOX Sports 1 and sent via overnight mail Tuesday to the Dolphins and NFL, claims that Sullivan was terminated earlier this month because new Miami general manager Dennis Hickey was unhappy about his remote working status.

Now while you may ask yourself why a team scout was working from home, well that's where the story gets interesting and begins to make Hickey and the team look bad.

Sullivan began performing his job from his residence back in 2004 to take care of his ill wife who suffers from cystic fibrosis as well as a severe blood vessel ailment.

The general managers that preceded Hickey were all fine with Sullivan and his arrangement, however it appears Hickey was not and took action immediately.

That action, though, according to Sullivan's lawyer Jason L. Harr, violates the Americans with Disabilities Act.

"It is unlawful for a covered entity to exclude or deny equal jobs or benefits to, or otherwise discriminate against, a qualified individual because of the known disability of an individual with whom the qualified individual is known to have a family, business, social or other relationship or association."
