Former Cleveland Browns CEO says he wanted to trade Josh Gordon

The Cleveland Browns organization made short work of former CEO Joe Banner as he only spent 16 months atop the franchise before his abrupt firing this past February.

Banner's tenure with the Browns wasn't exactly filled with positive moments, and one of his biggest regrets appears to be not trading Josh Gordon.

The oft-troubled wide receiver (who has now found himself facing a possible year long suspension) was reportedly put on the trade block with Banner acting as the CEO, but other personalities in the front office preferred to keep him on the roster given the best offer they received was a second-round draft selection, per Cleveland.com.

"Banner and Lombardi also wanted to trade star receiver Josh Gordon because of multiple failed drug tests," says Mary Kay Cobot of Cleveland.com. "But some in the organization, including then coach Rob Chudzinski, felt the Browns had a strong enough support system to keep him on the straight and narrow."
