Jamon Meredith won't start at right guard for Buccaneers
Jamon Meredith has been taken out of the running for the starting right guard spot with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, according to Tampa Bay Online.
Meredith started at right guard during the Buccaneers preseason opener and had been practicing at guard with the first team for most of training camp, but Bucs head coach Lovie Smith didn't like what he saw.
“Jamon didn’t play as well as he needed to, so we’re going to let him concentrate a little bit more at the tackle position and give that next group of guards an opportunity," said Smith.
Meredith started eight games at guard for Tampa Bay last season, and played in all 16.

Jace Daniels, who signed with the Buccaneers in 2013 and spent the season on the practice squad, took all of the first-team reps at right guard during Sunday's practice.
“There’s no doubt it’s a big opportunity,’’ Daniels said of his promotion.
