The Houston Texans released former New York Giants running back Andre Brown Monday, just four months after signing him, according to ProFootballTalk.

Brown, who has battled leg injuries throughout his four-year NFL career, was competing for a backup running back spot behind Arian Foster

After spending his debut 2010 season bouncing among four teams, Brown landed in 2011 with the Giants. He spent three seasons with New York, where he rushed for 877 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Some reports indicated the "writing was on the wall" for Brown when he didn't see a snap in Houston's preseason game Saturday against Arizona. Brown didn't see any action in the 32-0 loss despite the team being without Foster.
