Mays was expected to be a starter at inside linebacker this season. James-Michael Johnson and Josh Mauga could possibly fill in for Mays.

Mays, 29, made 13 starts for the Houston Texans last season, recording 67 total tackles, one sack and three passes defended. He signed a two-year, $6 million deal with Kansas City this offseason.
