Buffalo Bills rookie receiver Sammy Watkins "should be good to go" for the team's regular season opener against the Chicago Bears after re-injuring his ribs in a preseason game Thursday night against the Detroit Lions, according to NFL.com's Ian Rapoport.

Watkins left the game midway through the first quarter after absorbing a hit from Lions linebacker Ashlee Palmer. The team later announced that he would not return.

NFL rumors: Buffalo Bills have T.J. Graham on the trade block

Watkins first injured his ribs against the Steelers on Aug. 16 and was held out of the Bills' Aug. 23 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He was back at practice this week and able to work out "without limits."

Watkins, 21, caught 101 passes for 1,464 yards and 12 touchdowns in his final season at Clemson. Buffalo traded the No. 9 pick plus their first and fourth-round picks in 2015 to move up and select the him at No. 4.
