Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson says that this season is the team’s best chance to win a championship.

Johnson has been to the playoffs once in his seven NFL seasons, and the team has won just 36 games in that time span. Johnson is coming off an All-Pro season in which he caught 84 passes for 1,492 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Despite Detroit's recent struggles, Johnson feels good about the team's chances this year.

"I honestly believe that,” Johnson said to Detroit Free Press. “And you’ve got to buy in. You’ve got to buy into the coaches’ philosophy, and we have.”

Lions head coach Jim Caldwell agrees with Johnson’s assessment and says he sees similar characteristics in his team and the Baltimore Ravens squad that won the Super Bowl two seasons ago. Caldwell was the offensive coordinator of that team.

“I think we have the foundation to be champions, without question,” Caldwell said.
