The St. Louis Rams finished 7-9 a year ago, placing them last in the NFC West. They were 3-4 when starting quarterback Sam Bradford tore his ACL and was lost for the year, then went 4-5 with backup Kellen Clemens. It was the ninth straight season in which the Rams missed the playoffs.

The Rams ranked 30th in the NFL in total offense last season, gaining just 304.8 yards per game. St. Louis was 27th in passing offense and 19th on the ground. Brian Schottenheimer enters his third season as the Rams’ offensive coordinator.

Gregg Williams is the team’s new defensive coordinator, reuniting with coach Jeff Fisher. The two teamed up in the same positions with the Houston Oilers and Tennessee Titans in the late 1990s.

During the offseason, the Rams re-signed guard Rodger Saffold -- after he had initially signed with the Oakland Raiders -- and brought in receiver Kenny Britt, defensive lineman Alex Carrington and cornerback Greg Reid. One of the team's acquisitions was backup quarterback Shaun Hill, who now finds himself the Week 1 starter after Bradford tore his ACL again during the preseason.

St. Louis drafted OT Greg Robinson with the No. 2 pick in the 2014 NFL draft.
