Jaguars WR Shorts questionable to play at Eagles
The team's leading receiver in 2013, Shorts was limited in practice for the second consecutive day Friday. Coach Gus Bradley listed Shorts as questionable for Sunday's opener.
''He went out there and they ran him a little bit to get a feel for where it was at,'' Bradley said after practice. ''Then they came to me and brought it to my attention that they were going to hold him out.''
Shorts also was held out of practice Thursday after feeling tightness in his left hamstring.
Bradley said Shorts won't be a game-time decision, meaning the team should know his status before it leaves Jacksonville on Saturday.
Shorts missed more than three weeks of training camp because of a strained right hamstring and sat out most of organized team activities with a calf injury. He also sat out 11 games because of injuries during his first three NFL seasons.
So the team is being cautious with Shorts' latest injury. Shorts, meanwhile, expects to play.
''It's about the same as it was (Thursday),'' Shorts said. ''It's a little tight. I don't think it's anything serious, but we'll take it day to day and see how it feels. I'm doing everything I normally do on a Friday and preparing as if I'm playing on Sunday.
''I'm staying positive. I'm not frustrated at all. If I feel good, I'm playing. If I have a choice, I'm going to go. Right now, my mindset is I'm playing.''
''Let's hope everything works out (with Shorts), but regardless we'll have some talent out there,'' Bradley said. ''They're a talented group, just inexperienced.''
In other injury news, kicker Josh Scobee practiced fully for the second consecutive day and will play.
The Jaguars also reached an injury settlement with tight end Brandon Barden. He is no longer on the team's injured reserve.
