Buccaneers place CB Mike Jenkins on IR with pectoral injury

Wednesday September 10th, 2014

Tampa Bay Buccaneers starting cornerback Mike Jenkins has been placed on injured reserve with a pectoral injury.

The Buccaneers signed Jenkins, as well as Alterraun Verner, this offseason after releasing Darrelle Revis. The 29-year-old Jenkins played 31 snaps in Sunday's loss to the Carolina Panthers

Jenkins, a Pro Bowler in 2009, is in his seventh season. He recorded 57 tackles and two interceptions with Oakland last season.

Questions remain in wake of Ray Rice punishment -- and bigger test awaits

The Bucs also waived defensive end Scott Solomon and added cornerback Crezdon Butler and defensive end Jacquies Smith.

Second-year cornerback Johnthan Banks could replace Jenkins in the starting lineup.
