The New England Patriots have placed wide receiver Aaron Dobson on injured reserve, the team announced on Thursday.

Dobson injured his hamstring during last Sunday's loss to the Green Bay Packers. The 23-year-old was a second-round draft pick in 2013 and is in his second season with the Patriots.

Dobson played just four games this season, after missing several games as a healthy inactive. He reportedly had a confrontation with offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels earlier in the season, something head coach Bill Belichick denied

The receiver was active for the first time since Week 6 against Green Bay and finishes the season with three catches for 38 yards.

Last season, Dobson played in 12 games, making 37 catches for 519 yards and four touchdowns as a rookie.

New England (9-3) plays the Chargers (8-4) in San Diego on Sunday.
