Tampa Bay Buccaneers Veteran Free Agent LB Says He's Open to All Options

Tampa Bay Buccaneers free agent linebacker Lavonte David says he is open to all options as we approach the free agency period.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have a laundry list of actions that need to be hashed out during the 2024 offseason. One of the main concerns for the Buccaneers will be to keep the key cogs that have become fixtures on the roster over the past couple of seasons. With most of the focus right now on what they will do with QB Baker Mayfield and WR Mike Evans, another player will also garner their attention in free agency - linebacker Lavonte David.

David has spent his entire career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and will be entering his third free agency with the team and continues to perform at a high level even at his age putting up 4.5 sacks, 134 tackles, and a forced fumble last season. David joined 'Good Morning Football' on Thursday morning to discuss the crossroads he is at as he enters free agency.

David expressed that talks haven't really progressed up to this point when it comes to communication with the Bucs' organization, but that the franchise has let him know that they want him back in the fold come 2024. David also reiterated that he would like to remain a Buccaneer for life, placing himself amongst the legends of the franchise, but at the end of the day, there is always the chance another team comes and sweeps him up.

He exclaimed that although he'd love to retire as a Tampa Bay Buccaneer, he would be open to all options as he still feels like he has a lot left in himself to perform at the highest of levels.

The Buccaneers would love to get David back with the team come 2024 and let him ride out the rest of his career in Tampa Bay. He can still produce at an elite level, even at his age, and has shown to be a massive leader on the field as well as in the locker room. If they can make the numbers work it is hard to see David ending up anywhere other than back in Tampa come 2024.
