The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are continuing to re-sign their key free agents.

Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reported on Monday that Bucs kicker Chase McLaughlin will be staying in Tampa Bay, signing a three-year deal with the team before the legal tampering period began on March 11. McLaughlin was previously signed to a one-year deal worth $1,130,000 last year.

McLaughlin has certainly earned a big deal. His 2023 campaign with Tampa Bay was the best in franchise history, hitting 29 of 31 kicks for an accuracy percentage of 93.5 percent. His only two misses in the 2023 regular season were blocks, and he also excelled in the playoffs, going four for five on field goals and five for five on extra points in 2023.

McLaughlin, similarly to Bucs quarterback Baker Mayfield, is likely happy to find a home. He's played for nine different teams including Tampa Bay, and this will mark the first time he's stayed on a team for consecutive years in his entire career. He came to the Bucs last year after a second stint with the Indianapolis Colts, where he hit 30 of 36 field goals.

The terms of the deal aren't known at this time, but McLaughlin will likely get the biggest contract of his career after bouncing around multiple teams and only earning around $4 million in his entire career to this point. It's a well-deserved payday for him after his performance, however, and the new deal benefits both parties for the security it brings to the kicker position going forward.
