Cardinals' Larry Fitzgerald Gave C.J. Stroud Crucial Advice

Potential No. 1 pick C.J. Stroud said Arizona Cardinals legend Larry Fitzgerald gave him advice on how to mold himself as a franchise player.

INDIANAPOLIS -- The Arizona Cardinals won't be in the mix for Ohio State Buckeyes QB C.J. Stroud for a few reasons, though there's now a connection between the two.

Young emerges from the college ranks as a decorated collegiate player. Projected to be one of the top picks in the 2023 NFL Draft, some believe Stroud has the ability to transform a franchise.

Former Cardinals receiver Larry Fitzgerald knows all about what it takes to shoulder the weight of a franchise, as his experience in Arizona for so many years allowed him to grow into the leader he's become today.

At the 2023 NFL Combine, Stroud said that Fitzgerald gave him advice on being a future franchise player.

"Just being really confident in yourself," Stroud said on what Fitzgerald shared with him (h/t Bo Brack).

"Really being a student of the game. Not being too cool for school. Going in there and controlling that team from rookie minicamp and that's how it starts. I don't think you can build a dynasty or build something like that without a good foundation. That's something I want to do when I come in is be a leader and of course not demand respect, but earn it. Build trust off the field and be a leader not only on the field but off it as well so that's what I plan to do."
