Cardinals Trade WR to Falcons for QB

The Arizona Cardinals are acquiring Desmond Ridder, per reports.

ARIZONA -- There were questions as to what the Arizona Cardinals felt comfortable with behind quarterback Kyler Murray moving into 2024.

Now we know.

The Cardinals are reportedly acquiring Atlanta Falcons CB Desmond Ridder according to CBS Sports NFL insider Jonathan Jones.

"The Falcons are working on a trade that will send QB Desmond Ridder to the Arizona Cardinals, source says. Ridder, who went 8-9 across two years as a starter, would backup Kyler Murray as the Falcons move forward with Kirk Cousins," Jones reported on Twitter/X.

According to NFL Media's Ian Rapoport, the Cardinals are sending Rondale Moore to Atlanta in the deal.

Greg Dortch will now move into Arizona's starting slot WR role.

Moore is a previous second-round pick from Purdue, drafted by the Cardinals in the 2021 NFL Draft. Though speedy, he never found his footing under play-callers Kliff Kingsbury or Drew Petzing in the desert.

Dortch was considered to be the more productive of the two slot receivers. Now, he'll got that opportunity to prove himself.

The Cardinals will welcome Ridder - 24 years old - who was a third-round pick from Atlanta in the 2022 NFL Draft.

Ridder is considered to be a mobile quarterback that started 13 games for the Falcons last season. He had a 6-7 starting record in Atlanta and now will compete with Clayton Tune to be QB2 behind Murray.
