Reactions to Cardinals Cutting D.J. Humphries

The Arizona Cardinals will miss their franchise left tackle.

ARIZONA -- The Arizona Cardinals no longer employ left tackle D.J. Humphries, as made official by the team earlier today:

"The Arizona Cardinals Football Club today announced that the team has released offensive lineman D.J. Humphries. Humphries started all 98 games he appeared in with the Cardinals after being drafted by Arizona in the first round of the 2015 NFL Draft. He was a four-time team captain and was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2021."

Arizona - who reportedly is designating Humphries' cut as a Post-June 1 move - will save over $15 million by cutting the veteran.

They've (reportedly) allocated that money to tackle Jonah Williams, who is alleged to be inking a two-year, $30 million deal with the club following his release from the Cincinnati Bengals.

The team released a thank you video for the move after several years of service:

Quarterback Kyler Murray - who has only known Humphries as his anchor since entering the league - reacted to the news:

Humphries suffered a torn ACL at the end of 2023 and is 30 years old. It's unknown if and where he'll play next, though there's no doubting the Red Sea will cherish him.

From a media perspective, he'll be missed too.

“Everything was great with the knee. Swelling is way down. Moving good, past 90 degree flexion & got my extension back. We’re rolling man. Two more weeks I’ll be off these damn crutches, I’m so excited," Humphries said earlier this month.
