Former Cardinals WR Hanging Around in Free Agency

Marquise Brown is just vibing on the open market.

ARIZONA -- The first two days of free agency have come and gone, and Arizona Cardinals WR Marquise Brown is still available.

At this point, he's regarded as one of the top free agents still available for teams to sign on the open market:

Bleacher Report: No. 11 Free Agent Available

B/R: "Arizona Cardinals wideout Marquise Brown is not a well-rounded receiver. His 5'9", 180-pound frame limits the roles he can fill, and his hands and route running aren't reliable enough to make him a true No. 1 target.

"Cardinals quarterbacks had a collective passer rating of just 72.8 when targeting Brown and a collective rating of 82.9 overall in 2023.

"However, Brown possesses the elite speed that NFL teams covet. It shows up when he is stretching the field on go routes but also when he is working across the field on slants and dig routes. Brown may not offer a lot of positional versatility, but what he does well, he does extremely well."

Pro Football Focus: No. 7 (With Ravens as Landing Spot)

PFF: "The Ravens traded Brown and a third-round pick to the Cardinals for a 2022 first-round pick, and his time in Arizona was a journey, to say the least. Between his own injuries and Kyler Murray's torn ACL, the former college teammates weren't able to team up as much as the old regime probably hoped, but he has flashed when in the lineup.

"It's hard to come up with a solid comparable player for a 5-foot-9, 180-pound outside wide receiver (although now the NFL is adding more of this archetype each year), and it's also fair to wonder how badly Arizona wants to extend anyone, given the team's timeline and the emergence of rookie wideout Michael Wilson."

Marquise Brown Rumor Mill

  • There's a lot of smoke that Brown could end up on the back-to-back Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs. Patrick Mahomes recently helped the team out by restructuring his deal to clear up $21 million in cap space recently, and Kansas City needs help at wideout.
  • Brown could also end up back with the Baltimore Ravens or sign with a new squad such as the Chicago Bears or Carolina Panthers. Teams such as the Tennessee Titans, Atlanta Falcons and New York Jets have also been named possibilities.
  • Wherever he signs, Brown is considered a candidate to take a one-year "prove it deal" after not producing as expected with the Cardinals last season.
