Former Texas Christian University quarterback Max Duggan, the 239th pick in this year's NFL draft courtesy of your Los Angeles Chargers, is joining two of his Horned Frogs wide receivers as a pro.

Quentin Johnston was LA's first round pick this year (at No. 21), and is expected to get plenty of opportunities to contribute this season. 5'8" Derius Davis, who was also a return specialist at TCU, was selected with the 125th by the Bolts.

John Dillon of Yahoo Sports posits that Davis may see limited time as a receiver on a deep and talented LA receiver corps this year, but that he could be the club's kick returner right away as a rookie.

It appears that, in Davis, Los Angeles has a multi-positional new weapon on its hands.

In fact, that aspect of his game was the first thing Duggan raved about when discussing Davis, as you'll see in this quote via Dillon:

“D.D. was a huge threat for us [at TCU], whether it was in special teams, punt return, kick return,” Duggan said. “Then, obviously, he was a big threat for us as a receiver, too. He can do a lot of things, obviously. His speed is what he’s known for, but he’s savvy. He knows how to run routes. He knows how to set people up with leverage. He’s a great worker and he’s going to be a good one.”

Dillon praises Duggan as "arguably the best in college football" at punt and kick returning last year. While with TCU, he converted five punt returns into touchdowns. During his final collegiate season, e was named the Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Year and an All-Big 12 First Teamer for his efforts in that department.

It'll be fascinating to see how Duggan contributes at the next level.
