Third-year Los Angeles Chargers head coach Brandon Staley has performative expectations for young Bolts players beyond the gridiron.

Per David Latham of Last Word On Sports, Staley is looking for more out of LA's new prospects during the team's three-day rookie minicamp.

"There’s a lot of learning to do, so everything you’re doing this weekend, you’re doing something for the first time,” Staley reflected. “Just learn as much as you can, work as hard as you can.”

“You just want to see, I think, how they thrive in the classroom," Staley elaborated. "There are a lot of components to the weekend where they have to learn so much for the first time, besides just football. There’s football in the classroom, there’s football on the field…they have to do so much for the first time.”

During this ongoing minicamp run, Staley intends to go over a lot of Chargers plays and strategies while dissecting game tape with Quentin Johnston and co.

Los Angeles drafted seven new players, ranging from the first round selection of Johnston out of TCU to his fellow Horned Frog, quarterback Max Duggan (who figures to see way, way less playing time than the All-Big Ten First Team wide receiver), with the Chargers' 239th pick in the draft's second round. Additionally, 18 undrafted NFL hopefuls are looking to make the Chargers' 54-man standard roster in 2023, too.
