Chargers Deal Kicker Dustin Hopkins to AFC North Rival, Cameron Dicker Earns Starting Role

Dicker will be the starting kicker

Your Los Angeles Chargers are moving moves before Tuesday's roster cut deadline.

The Chargers have traded kicker Dustin Hopkins to the Cleveland Browns for a 2025 seventh-round draft pick.

This trade indicates that young kicker Cameron Dicker has won the kicking job.

Hopkins spent two seasons with the Bolts, going 27-for-30 in 16 games. He made 90% of his kicks, and his longest was a 50-yarder. In extra points, he made 95.5% of them, going 42-for-44.

As for Dicker, he was signed on the practice squad in early November 2022 and played right away, making two field goals, including a 36-yard kick that won the Bolts the game against the Atlanta Falcons. Dicker was signed for good later that month after Hopkins suffered an injury.

The kicker battle was one to watch for throughout the Chargers training camp, and today, we got a clear-cut answer of who won that battle.

Hopkins couldn't recover from Dicker's spectacular accuracy. Nonetheless, we wish Hopkins the best in Cleveland and congratulations to Dicker for winning the starting role.
