Chargers Injury Report: Keenan Allen Reveals Exact Diagnosis Prior To Packers Game

He injured his shoulder during LA's high-scoring loss to the Lions.

Five-time Pro Bowl Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Keenan Allen hurt his left shoulder in the midst of an eventual 41-38 defeat at the hands of the Detroit Lions last Sunday afternoon, which dropped LA to a 4-5 record on the year. He had to depart the game at one point, but returned and promptly ran in for a touchdown.

His availability against another chippy NFC North opponent, the Green Bay Packers, was in doubt after he sat out a Bolts practice on Wednesday.

Now, we've got a clearer picture of his status for this weekend. He was limited in practice today, and appears to be braving through what could be a lingering issue against Green Bay.

The 6'2", 211-pound vet, who's officially still questionable for the weekend, has informed Kris Rhim of ESPN that he suffered an AC joint sprain in the shoulder, but fully intends to suit up.

"I'll be out there again," Allen said.

Depending on the nature of the ailment this weekend, Allen may do that while wearing medical tape and a pressure plate on the shoulder, Rhim notes.

"He's such a smart player. You can do so much with him. That's why you see the production," head coach Brandon Staley raved. "Being here for three years, I think I've had a deeper appreciation for him every year I've been the coach."
