Chargers News: Bears Insider Most Concerned About This Justin Herbert Weapon

Herbert needs to connect with him.

Several injuries have held back the Chargers from their true potential to start the 2023 season, but one healthy weapon remains a standout despite his age.

Veteran stalwart Keenan Allen remains the best receiver on LA's roster and will garner plenty of attention for the Bolts' next opponent in the Windy City.

If and when Herbert gets going, chances are he’ll be looking Keenan Allen’s way. The veteran wide receiver is midway through his 11th season as a pro and shows no signs of slowing down. Allen has 46 receptions for 574 yards and four touchdowns this season. With Herbert dealing with his injury, though, Allen’s production has taken a hit over the last few weeks. He hasn’t broken 100 receiving yards since Week 3 and only caught four of his nine targets last week against the Kansas City Chiefs. That being said, the Bears secondary needs to keep their eyes on No. 13 wherever he lines up. While Allen used to play primarily from the slot position, he’s now all over the field thanks to new offensive coordinator Kellen Moore. Players like Jaylon Johnson, Tyrique Stevenson, and Kyler Gordon will need to be on alert.

Injuries to Austin Ekeler, Mike Williams, Joshua Palmer, and Gerald Everett made Allen's health an even more important factor in LA's success in 2023.

Despite getting held in check against the Chiefs last week, the former Cal Bear remains Herbert's top target and one of the best route runners in the game.

Allen remains the top target. Herbert should find ways to get the ball to, as we all know how explosive he can be when left to his devices.

Chicago's defense has proven vulnerable all season long, and with many of his teammates hurt, it'll be up to Allen to get open and play his role for a hopeful LA win.
