Chargers News: Bolts Could Face Exciting Rookie Amid Justin Fields Injury Status

Quite the story.

Your Los Angeles Chargers suffered another agonizing loss in Week 7 of their season but should have a favorable matchup on the schedule for their next contest.

Brandon Staley's men failed to secure a divisional win against their nemesis in Kansas City but could get back on track against one of the NFL's worst squads.

Week 8 means another primetime matchup for LA against the Chicago Bears. Per Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, starting Bears quarterback Justin Fields remains doubtful ahead of the contest on Sunday night, meaning Chicago will most likely send rookie quarterback Tyson Bagent out for his second career start.

Fields suffered a dislocated thumb on his throwing hand in Week 6 against the Vikings which forced Bagent into action for backup duties.

Bagent once again went under center in his stead after Fields got ruled out against the Raiders last week and led the Bears to their second win of the year.

Chicago still remains one of the NFL's worst teams but Bagent's story inspired a spirited win against Vegas in Week 7.

The former Division II quarterback went undrafted this past April but beat out PJ Walker for Chicago's top understudy job behind Fields during the preseason.

D'Onta Foreman helped out the young quarterback throughout the game but Bagent secured the first win of his NFL career against veteran Brian Hoyer on the other sideline.

LA should pose a more imposing challenge for the young signal-caller and desperately need a victory to salvage a seemingly lost season.

Two straight losses against beatable opponents won't inspire much confidence in the organization and Brandon Staley's seat seems hotter by the hour due to his poor decision-making.

Had his defense not bailed him out during Weeks 3 and 4 against the Vikings and Raiders respectively, LA could easily have a winless record through six games under the disappointing head coach.

A loss to one of the NFL's worst teams will add fuel towards firing the man, especially against an inexperienced quarterback in his third official game.
