Chargers News: Capped-Out LA Could Pursue Cheap Free Agent

This would be a huge pickup for the Bolts.

The Bolts' running back situation is fairly dire, with Austin Ekeler expected to be shown the door and little promise behind him. 2022 4th-rounder Isaiah Spiller is an option, but he's displayed little promise in his few opportunities, suggesting that the Bolts may need to outsource talent from elsewhere.

Expect them to draft an RB – with elite Michigan backs Blake Corum and Donovan Edwards being connected to the Bolts for obvious reasons. New offensive coordinator Greg Roman also runs the ball at one of the highest frequencies amongst OCs in recent league history, meaning more than one quality RB will be necessary.

To that end, Gus Edwards of the Baltimore Ravens is a name to keep an eye out for. At 6-foot-1 and 238 pounds, Edwards is a tank, earning the nickname the "Gus Bus."

With career averages of 4.9 yards per carry and a successful rush percentage of 57.4%, he's among the league leaders in efficiency and productivity at the RB position.

The kicker here is his exposure to Greg Roman's scheme. Coordinating the Baltimore offense from 2018-2022, Roman utilized Edwards quite a bit, with the Rutgers product putting up 2,585 yards on over 5 yards per carry in just 17 starts.

With a confusing backfield situation in Baltimore, expect Edwards to hit the open market and possess a very realistic shot of reuniting with his former OC and becoming one of the focal points of an elite Bolts offense.
