Sometimes a team will strike gold and have too much talent or too many options on their hands. It is a good problem to have and your Los Angeles Chargers are currently facing this with their kicker spot.

Most of the talk surrounding this squad has been the noise around the WR rotations, the TE plan, and Kellen Moore's new system. However, both Dustin Hopkins and Cameron Dicker have quite the cases to be named the main option and it will be clash of experience vs youth.

We only got to see Hopkins suit up for five games in 2022 and that could be why this is even a conversation. Nonetheless, he did what he needed to in that time as he connected on nine out of his ten field goal attempts before a pulled hamstring took him out for the year.

But then you look at Dicker, who took over for Hopkins after his injury, and he just continued the positive momentum that was left for him.

Out of his own 20 field goal attempts, he connected on 19 of them and was fazed at all when he was thrust into such a big role. Let's also not forget that he showcased a clutch gene in his first game of the year

The Chargers' own Eric Smith touched on what the battle would look like once OTA's kick off.

"Chargers Special Teams Coordinator Ryan Ficken said this week that everything will be evaluated in the battle, whether it's last year's performance, consistency this year or how they fit onto the roster. May the best kicker win what should be a fascinating decision. Elsewhere on special teams, Derius Davis will be given the first crack at both returner roles but he will have to earn them as he enters his rookie season."

LA's coaching staff will have some fun breaking this down soon.
