Los Angeles Chargers linebacker Eric Kendricks will enter his ninth NFL season and his first as a member of the Bolts. The former 2015 second-round pick went to Minnesota as a wide-eyed kid and came out of there as a Pro-Bowler, an All-Pro talent, and, most importantly, a leader.

Kendricks will now bring that leadership to the Chargers, on and off the field. Not only will he bring his high football IQ to the squad, but nothing other than Eric being himself will be enough for the team, and he recognizes that. He told LA Times writer Jeff Miller that he doesn't need to do anything special.

“I’m glad that I can fit into this program, into this system,” Kendricks said via Jeff Miller of the Los Angeles Times. “But, also, I don’t have to do too much as I come in. I can get to know the guys, get to know the leaders on the team . . . just play my role. . . . I’ve seen a lot. I’ve done a lot. Hopefully, my experiences can help everybody else around me. I’m not pushing for that. I’m just going to come in here, be myself, and play the game that I love to play.”

Eric will help and lead a defense that was ranked dead last in rushing yards allowed and finished 21st in points allowed. The Chargers have the talent and multiple stars on the defensive side, but that didn't translate onto the field. Kendricks would be the difference in those departments for the Bolts this upcoming season, as he is coming off a career-high in solo tackles.

The Bolts must improve their defense to compete in their conference. The nine-year veteran is sure to bring that energy that will be needed for the Chargers.
