Chargers News: Fans React To LA's Decision To Fire Brandon Staley

You can probably surmise how they felt.

Our long local nightmare is over, folks.

Brandon Staley, the "defensive guru" whose defenses consistently ranked among the bottom in the league during his two-and-a-half-year tenure, has been let go by your Los Angeles Chargers.

The final issue appears LA's totally miserable play against the Las Vegas Raiders on Thursday, a 63-21 decimation. The loss dropped the Bolts to a 5-9 record on the year, and (with Justin Herbert done for the season) essentially out of the playoff race.

Fans took to Twitter/X to unpack the chaos.

One rejoicing fan seemed emphatically excited about the move:

Bomani Jones of HBO joked that the miserable loss was so brutal that it must have been planned by Staley.

Staley's middling 24-24 record as a head coach in LA obfuscates just how bad he was looking this year. He was replaced by longtime Los Angeles coach Giff Smith on an interim basis. We'll see how this hand-picked sub responds to a hungry Los Angeles squad missing most of its regulars during the season's home stretch.
