With the 28th overall pick in the 2019 draft, the Los Angeles Rams selected Jerry Tillery out of Notre Dame. He was one of the most promising defensive tackles in his class and LA hoped he would flourish under their developmental system and become an important part of their future. Unfortunately, Tillery would become the opposite and get released from the team in the middle of the 2022 season after not fulfilling his promise with them.

However, the Las Vegas Raiders decided to take a chance on the young lineman amidst their own disappointing season and claimed him off of waivers. He was placed into the rotation with certain limits but garnered more freedom than he did that same season with the Chargers.

He suited up for eight games in the silver and black and was good for 10 tackles. These statistics are nothing that jump off of the screen but they were good enough for the rebuilding Raiders to bring him back once again this offseason.

The deal was first reported by the NFL's Jordan Schultz and confirmed to be two years.

"Comp update: Jerry Tillery's deal with the #Raiders is a two-year contract for $7M, worth up to $8M. Also includes $5.6M guaranteed, source says," said Schultz.

Tillery's production, or lack thereof, with the Chargers in 2022 was the main reason they decided they'd seen enough of the 26-year-old and waived him. He started no games for them and posted only eight tackles. Tillery also had a lot going off of the field and LA believed it was best to part ways.

We are always rooting for the longevity of ant of our former players in the NFL nonetheless and it is great to see a franchise grant Tillery a second contract.
