Chargers News: Joe Hortiz Details Plan to Rebuild Bolts

The Chargers will look to be dominant in the trenches.

On Tuesday, your Los Angeles Chargers introduced their new general manager, Joe Hortiz, to local media with his debut press conference. It is officially the new era for the Chargers, and fans couldn't be any more excited.

The excitement is in the air, and it will be on Hortiz, new head coach Jim Harbaugh, and the Spanos family to turn things around. The Spanos family hasn't experienced much success in the football realm with the Bolts, but Ortiz and Harbaigh have on their respective paths. They know what it takes to win, and the Bolts will lean on these two for guidance.

The Chargers found their guys, but how will the Bolts move forward to be a threat starting next season? During Hortiz's press conference, he detailed a plan to rebuild the Bolts, and he kept it short and sweet.

“We want to be strong, physical, tough, and build a good run game,” Hortiz said.

It's that simple, and the many great teams have used this strategy to win at the highest level. Look at the two Super Bowl representatives this season; both are physical on both sides of the ball and have great run games and tremendous offensive lines to back them up.

That's the recipe for success, and the Charger front office is trying to replicate that. Although many eyes will be on Justin Herbert and his ability to carry the team, Harbaugh and Hortiz realize they will be great because they are physical and tough, have a strong run game, and can prevent the run on defense.

The recipe is there; the cooks seem to be the right ones; now we have to wait and see how it all comes out.
