Chargers News: Joe Hortiz Explains How "All-Star Offensive Staff" Will Build Up Justin Herbert's Game

Hortiz hyped up his staff.

Los Angeles Chargers general manager Joe Hortiz is at the NFL Scouting Combine this week, where he will get the chance to look more closely at some of the players the Chargers can draft to build around quarterback Justin Herbert.

During a conversation today with Peter Schrager of Good Morning Football, Hortiz spoke more closely about how they're building around their starting quarterback. Aside from building a roster, they've already provided Herbert with what Hortiz describes as an "All-Star offensive staff."

"We're just gonna support him. We're gonna build a team around him and give him everything from a coaching standpoint. Jim is assembling an All-Star offensive staff," Hortiz raved. "Decorated, experienced coaches with a lot of versatility, a lot of ideas, been with multiple different offenses. You've got the leader in Jim, who's won everywhere he's been. We're going to continue to do that, and put together a bunch of players around him and give him all the support inside and outside the building."

The Chargers have certainly built an experienced coaching staff, especially considering all the combined experience Jim Harbaugh, Greg Roman and Marc Trestman have in their coaching careers.

Harbaugh is of course the most decorated of the bunch, having coached the San Francisco  to multiple NFC Championship Games, a Super Bowl appearance and brought Michigan to a National Championship win.

Roman was part of those successful Harbaugh 49ers team, and has worked with multiple quarterbacks including Lamar Jackson, Colin Kaepernick and Alex Smith. Now, Harbaugh, Roman and the rest of the offensive staff will get to team up with Herbert. Herbert obviously has a ton of potential, and Hortiz believes that this staff will be the key to maximizing Herbert's ability.
