Chargers News: Journalist Blames This For LA's Lackluster Defense

The Chargers defense continues to disappoint with star players across the board.

Your Los Angeles Chargers are off to an 0-2 record on the season after two disappointing losses.

Week 1 saw LA lose in heartbreak fashion as the Miami Dolphins managed to take the lead with just under 2 minutes left.

Tua Tagovailoa passed for over 400 yards in that game and managed to throw 3 touchdowns en route to victory.

The Chargers lost to a good Dolphins team that should challenge for the AFC Championship this year. Week 2 however, saw the Chargers lose to an 0-1 Titans team that was missing their best receiving threat.

Quarterback Ryan Tannehill tossed 246 yards while completing 83% of his passes.

In a game that saw a Chargers defense play a lot of zone, the unit as a whole was getting chunked the entire game, as Jeff Miller of The Los Angeles Times details.

"The two big pass plays were more mental errors," Jeff Miller wrote. "After the game, coach Brandon Staley talked about recognizing who on the other team is a deep threat. Not sure how you can prepare all week for an opponent and still be trying to figure out something like that on game day. The 49-yard completion against Michael Davis wasn’t terrible defense. Davis was a step behind Chris Moore early in the route but closed at the end and couldn’t stop what was an excellent throw by Tannehill."

With star running back Austin Ekeler out with an injury this game, the offense was already going to be limited out of the backfield.

The defense needs to start stepping up for the Chargers and it will have a tough challenge this weekend against the 0-2 Minnesota Vikings.

The Vikings offensively have been one of the better teams in the NFL but this game may come down to which defense can get a stop.
