Chargers News: Keenan Allen Reflects On Achieving 10K Career Receiving Yards Vs Jets

Consistency pays off

The Los Angeles Chargers are back to .500 after picking up a win against the New York Jets on Monday night. The Bolts currently sit on the outside looking in of the postseason, currently in the 10th spot in the AFC playoff picture.

It was a good day all around on Monday as they not only picked up the win, but their veteran wide receiver Keenan Allen made history in the process.

Allen recorded 77 receiving yards on Monday, putting him over the 10K mark throughout his career. It is another milestone in Allen's incredible career. After the game, the 31-year-old wide receiver reflected on his new milestone and credited it to his consistency and longevity.

"That's amazing. Hard work paying off, consistency, resiliency. I've been through a lot, injuries and stuff like that, so it's nice," Allen said following the contest.

"I mean, it's been 11 years, this is my 11th season, so I mean once you can stack up the years, all the coaches that I've always had, they've always said stack 'em up," he said, via the official transcript. "Stack up the seasons, stack up the wins. Once you start to do that, then you start to accumulate."

Allen became the 54th player in NFL history to surpass 10,000 receiving yards. Notable players who have reached this feat are Julio Jones, Cris Carter, Hines Ward, Calvin Johnson, Chad Johnson, and Charger legend Antonio Gates.

If Allen continues on this track, he could knock on the Hall of Fame's door once he decides to hang it up.

The only Charger in front of Allen in receiving yards is the aforementioned Gates, who leads the team in almost every pass-catching category. This is a rare and extraordinary feat that Allen has surpassed, and the good thing is he is nowhere close to being done.

The journey will continue for the 11-year veteran as long as he can play at a high level.
