The Los Angeles Chargers are heading into the 2023 season with soaring expectations, fueled by their Super Bowl aspirations. The team fell short last season, but they will be heading into the season led by their head coach Brandon Staley. Although the real games start in September, their journey towards greatness commenced with the voluntary Organized Team Activities (OTAs), which kicked off on Monday.

At the moment, OTA's are voluntary; however, no one seemed to tell that to the Chargers as many of the players participated in it, including defensive standouts Khalil Mack, Derwin James, and Joey Bosa. Staley spoke to the media after Monday's OTA's, and he was elated by their commitment and dedication on day one.

"I really appreciate all these guys being here, because it's voluntary," Staley said. "I think it says a lot about the culture that we have. Your culture is your best players and the example that they set."Certainly, Khalil Mack sets a high standard, and I think that Derwin [James, Jr.] and Joey [Bosa] are part of that," Staley added. "For Joey to be here, I think that it shows all of these young players what it takes to be successful, that you have to be here with your team to improve… For him to be here, Day 1, really excited about that — and all of the guys who were here because that's how you improve, you improve as a team together."

The presence of star players such as Khalil Mack, Derwin James, and Joey Bosa at the OTA sessions is a testament to their unwavering commitment to the team and their teammates.

Brandon Staley recognizes the significance of these veteran players in shaping the team's culture and success. As the Chargers strive for their Super Bowl aspirations, the contributions of Mack, James, Bosa, and the entire team will be instrumental in accomplishing what they set out to do.

OTA's may not seem like a big deal at the moment, but things like this are what set the tone for the season and could take the team a long way.
