Chargers News: New Odds Has Bolts Landing Highly-Rated AFC West Free Agent RB

The Chargers could end up with a huge AFC West RB.

The Los Angeles Chargers have an important decision to make this offseason. Should they franchise tag RB Austin Ekeler? Ekeler had a down year, and a new contract might not be on the horiozon for the long-time Bolt.

If Ekeler is not tagged and instead heads to test the free agency market, that means the Chargers will need a veteran RB presence.

One such presence could be current Las Vegas Raiders RB Josh Jacobs. Jacobs is also set to become a free agent, unless of course the Raider franchise tag him. Even if they do, there's a chance that the Chargers offer Jacobs a lucrative contract.

According to Betonline, the Chargers sit at the top of the list in terms of odds to land Jacobs. They currently have a +400 chance to land the stalwart RB from their AFC West rivals.

Teams often go after their divisional rival free agents, but the Chargers landing Jacobs would be huge.

Jacobs ended the 2023 season with 805 yards and 6 TDs. While his 3.5 YPG is not great, it could be the team did not put him in the right place to succeed.

The Chargers are aiming to add physical runners, and Jacobs fits the bill of a three-down physical back.

The team even added a new RB coach in Kiel McDonald from USC, so there is going to be a big emphasis on the run game. Landing Jacobs would be a huge step in the right direction.
