Chargers News: NFL Fans React To Jesse Minter Joining Jim Harbaugh's Staff
The Los Angeles Chargers made their hiring of defensive coordinator Jesse Minter official earlier this week. Minter had been expected to leave Michigan and join Jim Harbaugh when he was announced as the Chargers' next head coach, but now the hiring is official.
Fans took to social media to react to the official hiring. The reactions were largely positive among Chargers fans, thanks to Minter's impressive resumé as a defensive coordinator.
Minter has been the defensive coordinator for Michigan over the last two defenses, helping lead one of the best defenses in the FBS to a national championship title.
Under Minter, the Wolverines had the No. 1 ranked defense in the FBS, allowing just 247 yards per game in 2023. They were also No. 1 in scoring defense, allowing just 10.40 points per game. The Wolverines were second in passing yards allowed per game, and fifth in rushing yards allowed per game.
Minter's Wolverines were also one of the leaders in interceptions, recording 18 picks as a team, third in the FBS.
With the Chargers, Minter will now be tabbed with improving the fifth-worst defense in the NFL in 2023. If he can get it done, he will prove to be an amazing addition to the Chargers.
