Chargers News: Odds Favor LA To Select This College Star In First Round Of NFL Draft

Should they make this move?

Your Los Angeles Chargers have long been rumored to have an interest in Georgia Bulldogs tight end Brock Bowers, and now it appears that even Vegas likes their chances to land him with the No. 5 pick in April's NFL draft.

Per FanDuel Sportsbook, the Chargers have been give +200 odds to select Bowers. That puts them ahead of the Indianapolis Colts (+500), Tennessee Titans (+750), New York Jets (+900), Cincinnati Bengals (+1000) and New Orleans Saints (+1200).

There's a chance the Bolts could trade back into the draft, betting on another club to not pick Bowers while at the same time acquiring future draft equity. It's a risky proposition, and hinges on just how highly Los Angeles values him as a pro prospect.

New offensive coordinator Greg Roman may be starting from scratch with his tight end corps, as veteran Gerald Everett is an impending free agent.

Bowers logged 56 catches for a total of 714 yards and six touchdowns during the 2023 college football season for the 13-1 Bulldogs. He's the only athlete to have twice won the John Mackey Award, awarded to the top tight end in the nation. Bowers' Georgia squads won two straight College Football Playoff national championships, in 2021 and '22.
