Chargers News: Reporter Believes Justin Herbert Will Win MVP This Season

Herbert>Mahomes?

Heading into his fourth season in the NFL, high praise is coming towards the Chargers star quarterback.

After receiving some MVP votes last year, an ESPN reporter predicts Justin Herbert will win the award this year.

On "Get Up," Mike Tanenbaum gave his pick for MVP. While most people believe Patrick Mahomes of the Chiefs should be the favorite to win the award again, Tanenbaum went in a different direction.

Herbert is coming off of a season where he threw for 4739 yards with 25 touchdowns and ten interceptions. He put up all those stats while playing through broken ribs that he suffered early in the season.

Going into this season, Herbert is projected to put up similar numbers.

He will have both Keenan Allen and Mike Williams as his primary targets, as he has in the past, but there are also new additions to the team that should help the air attacks.

First, new offensive coordinator Kellen Moore is expected to implement a system focusing on maximizing Herbert's potential.

That includes bringing in new weapons, such as rookie Quentin Johnson, the Chargers' first pick in the draft this past offseason.

Moore is also looking to get Austin Ekeler involved more, who is more than capable of catching passes and picking up yards by himself.

If all the pieces fit together for the Bolts this year, Herbert could potentially put up his best year and walk away with the MVP award.
