Chargers News: Rookie WR Quentin Johnston Dissatisfied with First NFL Showing

Although he scored his first NFL touchdown, Johnston isn't satisfied with his first NFL outing

The Los Angeles Chargers put a whipping on their cross-town rivals LA Rams, 34-17. The offense was humming, and the defense had some hiccups but was ultimately solid, all things considered.

The rookies, undrafted rookies, and fringe players balled out to lead the Chargers to their first win of many in 2023, and their top rookie wide receiver Quentin Johnston did his part.

It might not have been what Johnston wanted from himself, but he still showed flashes of what he could be in this offense. Although he scored his first NFL touchdown, Johnston expressed his disappointment with his performance and vowed he'd do better.

“I’m not satisfied,” the rookie said. “Hopefully, [I’ll] come back next week and be better.”

Johnston had six targets for three receptions and 10 yards. He had dropped two of the six targets that came his way, which he had problems with in his years at TCU.

However, that won't faze him; he'll learn from it and do better next week.

“Just focus,” Johnston said. “Obviously a big stage, just not as dialed in as I would like to be. I thought I was. Obviously, I wasn’t. Just a learning experience for me.”

This is game one of many for the young wide receiver, and considering it was a preseason game, it's not viewed as a big deal. Still, it's great that he cares so much about the game, whether they count or not. That's the type of person you want on your sideline, and if he says he'll do better, then he will.

Dropped passes will happen; hopefully, they don't happen often. We can't wait to see how Johnston responds next week.
