Chargers News: Super Bowl Champion Believes Seahawks Pete Carroll Should Be Bolts Next HC

Pete Caroll could be a good fit for the Chargers' vacant HC opening.

The Los Angeles Chargers are currently looking for their next head coach, as Brandon Staley was fired before the season ended. Dean Spanos announced his statement that the team was not where it should be, which is true considering the team was predicted to have a deep playoff run.

Instead, they finished the season 5-11, and are now facing a tough cap room situation. That's not to mention the huge amount of injuries the team sustained throughout the season, making depth a far bigger issue heading into the 2024 offseason.

The Chargers have wasted no time attempting to find a replacement, as they have requested interviews from all manner of coaches across the league. Shockingly, former Seahawks HC Pete Caroll was revealed to be stepping down, and a former Super Bowl Champion believes he should be in line to lead the Chargers.

Former Seahawks cornerback and current NFL analyst Richard Sherman believes that the Chargers should target Carroll in their search for a new HC. He believes Carroll could "change the culture and put more people in the seats than ever before."

Sherman is certainly not off base with this tweet. Carroll has a 137-69-1 record with the Seahawks through 14 seasons. He has led them to a Super Bowl, 5 NFC West titles, and 10 playoff wins.

Simply put, Carroll is a proven winner. He may not have been able to lead the Seahawks to multiple Super Bowl victories, but he would be a huge acquisition for the Chargers.

Carroll is responsible for the success that Russell Wilson has had in the league, and Justin Herbert being able to learn from Carroll would be huge.

The Seahawks did announce that Carroll would be moving into a front office "advisory" role, but that may not be where he wants to be. He is 71 years old and retirement is likely on the horizon, but he could want to remain in the HC conversation.

If Carroll wants to continue to be the leader of a team, the Chargers would do well with setting up a meeting.
