Chargers Rumors: LA Considered Increasingly Likely To Trade Back From First Round Pick?

A risky move?

Your Los Angeles Chargers own the No. 5 pick in this year's NFL draft, but rumblings at this week's NFL Combine in Indianapolis seem to suggest that the club may be looking to trade backwards and accrue more future equity.

Benjamin Allbright of KOA 850 AM & 94.1 FM Denver indicates that he believes the Bolts are interested in trading down so that they can add more draft assets and bolster their offensive line around Pro Bowl quarterback Justin Herbert.

In his remarks at the press during the Combine earlier this week, new Los Angeles general manager Joe Hortiz seemed to hint that the team could be amenable to making a move.

"It seems to be a lot, most years, the same positions — wide receiver, every year we're starting to put out more and more wide receivers because of the way college football has changed," Hortiz said, specifically. "But, yeah, it's a good depth draft for O-line."

That doesn't mean he's committed to that path per se, but certainly it suggests he is open to trading down. and prioritizing help and protection for Herbert's rocket arm.
